Haitian Elections Overdue

Haiti will held on August 9th with Presidential elections on October 25th.  “Parliament was dissolved in January over its failure to hold elections, leaving Haiti without a functioning government.  Mid-term Senate elections had been due in May 2012, while the municipal poll is three years behind schedule.”  This has caused massive protests in the nation with many calling for President Martelly’s resignation.  With a legacy of poverty and political corruption, it should come as no surprise that the Haitians are tired of leaders that abuse power.
