When Havana was Friki

Havana has always been known for it’s wide variety of music and this was certainly not an exception during the late 1900’s. “When havana was friki” refers to the age of metal rock in the 1970’s and the 1980’s. During the 1980’s if you dressed “friki” you were arrested. During this time period those that were “friki” tended to come together and start their own groups which in turn started a revolution. The “frikis” struggled to find places to have their concerts and express themselves as it was not accepted by the general public and government. Radio ambulante covers this time period perfectly, incorporating not only the music scene, but the issues that arose during this time which had an influence on Cuba and the “friki” era.
