Cuba Asking to not be a Considered a Terrorist

No one is claiming that the relationship between Cuba and the U.S. is in a honeymoon phase, but progress has been made. Regardless of this progress Cuba is still considered by the U.S. to be a “nation that sponsors terrorism.” This is a distinction given to other such countries as Iran and Sudan. Besides the insult the Castro might feel by this label, especially if they really do mean no ill will towards the U.S, there is an economic drawback to being a member of the exclusive club. U.S. business’ face steep fines for dealing with countries perceived to promote terrorism. Whether or not Cuba will get their wish remains to be seen, but the White House has released that the deliberations are in “advanced stages”.
