President Barack Obama has recently made a request to Congress that Cuba be taken off the U.S government’s list for sponsors of terrorism. This could possibly lead to the re-establishing of embassies in both countries. According to Obama, Cuba has not recently and believes will not conduct any acts of terrorism towards the United States. Although the president’s decision has faced some criticism from Republicans, Cuba’s removal from the list will continue to help diplomatic relations between the country and the U.S. Cuba had been placed on the terrorism list since 1982 as a response during the Cold War.
