In what will surely bring peace of mind to the British, Vladimir Putin and Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner met in Moscow this past week to discuss a variety of topics. Among the pleasantries were discussions regarding the trade of crude oil and gas between the two nations, as well as Russia’s continued disapproval of Great Britain’s control of the Malvinas Islands. Whether Russia truly cares about who holds the islands is up for debate, but the comment clearly shows Putin’s dislike for England. The latest meeting between the two leaders follows a meeting in Argentina back in July when Putin was touring South America. The agreement of trading oil and gas follows a rumored agreement between the two nations that would see Russia send military aircraft to Argentina. It is worried that the aircraft would subsequently be used in a conflict between Argentina and Great Britain for the Malvinas.
